About

Hi! My name is Eric.

I grew up in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, but have spent time living in Chicago and San Francisco. I have always been interested in athletics and academics, which pushed me to obtain a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have worked as a Research Engineer, Robotics Engineer, and Research Scientist, but have always hoped I could continue to write and teach to some extent. From an academic sense my specialty is system dynamics and control theory, but from a professional sense I specialize in quite a bit of machine learning, computer vision, robotics, system dynamics and control, optimal estimation, optics, navigation, and of course, control design and synthesis.

I’ve always thought there have been so many amazing things to try, do, and achieve in the world. Some of my hobbies include downhill skiing, both in bounds and backcountry, power lifting, motorcycle roadracing, playing guitar and piano, backpacking, mountaineering, reading, and playing with my dog, Cooper.

After working in large corporations and in start ups I’ve come to realize that my heart is in early stage start ups with a desire to create a solid culture, move quickly, and do something that’s never been done before. I have a large amount of experience in quick turn prototypes related to robotics systems, and an intense interest in current organizational research and emotional intelligence. I’m interested in helping to foster a culture that emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence, defaulting to benevolent assumptions, and creates a house style that allows for a resonant workplace.
